NOTD: New Year's Eve

Happy New Year's Eve everybody! This is the first of three special New Year's themed posts that I will be posting today. This first one is on my New Year's manicure. I will be wearing these sliver and blue nails all night long until the clock strikes midnight!

I used a turquoise blue as the base for four nails and on the pinkie I used a sliver nail polish (Zoya's Trixie). Then I used Essie's Set in Stones to give a glittery top coat on my middle finger and thumb. Lastly I used a black nail polish and wrote out 2013 on my ring finger. To finish, I used Sally Hansen's Insta-dri top coat to seal my design and give my nails a glossy shine.

Happy New Year!

My Winter Hat Collection

So since the weather is getting colder a lot of you are probably buying lots of warm hats right? Well, not me! One advantage of being a crocheter/knitter is that you don't have to spend a lot of money on winter wear because you can easily make a simple hat or scarf with a skein or two of yarn. With that being said today I'm going to be show you guys my rather large collection of hats. One thing that you will notice is that most of my hats are knitted that's because my older sister has knitted me most of these hats. It's not that I haven't made any hats before it's just that when I do they are usually for someone else, so yeah. Anyways on to the hats!

My favorite types of hats are berets so I will start off with those first. I will tell you where I got the hats if their from a store if it doesn't say where it's from below then my sister made it.

My sister made a hat out of this color yarn and that same design but when I asked for it she said I couldn't have it so she made me the same hat instead. The only downside is that it looks kind of strange on my head.

This hat uses to different colored purple yarn but you can't tell in this picture.

Inspired by Twinkie Chan (This was before she released her book).

One of my favorite hats made by my sister! I wished she made more hats like this because there my favorite! The hard part is trying to pick a outfit to match it.

One of the first hats my sister ever made for me. You can tell that her knitting skills have improved over the years.

Purple sequin beret from Forever 21.

This is my "Where the wild things are" hat. It's just missing the crown.

I want to cut out felt eyes and turn this one into a cookie monster hat.

My sister said its suppose to be a strawberry hat but it remind me more of a red chili pepper.

Another one of my favorite hats by my sister. This was one of my Christmas presents that she gave me last year.

From Forever 21.

I made the pom pom on this one, it's HUGE!

Hello Kitty hat from Hot Topic that I got years ago.

This is my most recent hat purchase and it's from Forever 21's new Hello Kitty collection

Well that's all of my winter hats. I want to say thank you to my older sister (I know you are reading this) for always making me hats and keeping my head warm.

Do you guys knit or crochet your hats? Or does someone else you know make some for you? Or do you guys just buy them at stores?

Since last week I've been patiently waiting for my Forever 21 package to arrive because I ordered a bunch of Hello Kitty accessories from the Hello Kitty/Sanrio for Forever 21 collection. It seems like every year Forever 21 comes out with a Hello Kitty collection but this one is by far my favorite collection! Sequined Hello Kitty mittens $12.80

Onch Movement (famous for his fun jewelry especially his pretzel necklaces) also collaborated with this collection to create a few incredibly adorable jewelry pieces, such as Hello Kitty statement necklaces, a colorful mini Hello Kitty bracelet and of course some pretzel necklaces.

Sanrio and Onch Movement pretzel Sanrio character necklace $10.80

Halloween Series: Midnight Kitten Tips

This is the second nail design from my nail art Halloween series, to see the first design click here.
I wanted to make a french tip Halloween look so I came up with a black kitten tip with a purplish blue night time background and a moon on the ring finger. I hope you enjoy the tutorial.

What I used: OPI's I don't give a Rotterdam, a white nail polish, Zoya's Gaia, a black nail polish, a art deco yellow polish, Sally Hansen's insta-dri anti-chip top coat, dotting tools, and some nail brushes.

Step 1: First apply two coats of whatever nail polish you are using for the background. Next using a black nail polish make a cat's head outline on the top of your nail tips. Repeat on each nail besides the ring finger.

Step 2: Fill in each cat outline that you just made.

Step 3: Now it's the fun part, drawing in the kitty cat faces! I used a nail dotting tool and white polish to create the eyes and art deco's yellow polish to create the nose.

Step 4: For my ring finger I drew a crescent moon shape. To make the moon I used a white polish to make the crescent outline and then filled in. Later I then applied Zoya's Gaia to give it a opalescent look.

Step 5: Apply a top coat to finish.

You now have a cute but still appropriate for Halloween nail look. Will you be trying out this nail look for Halloween?

Happy Halloween

Nails Art Supplies

Hey guys so maybe you guys don't know this but I am currently in LOVE with gel manicures! I've never had a professionally done gel manicure but I've done them myself and not only do they last longer but they look awesome too! Regular manicures last a few days but gel nails last 2 to 3 weeks! Which is amazing since I don't always have time to do my nails. Anyways I've collected quite a bit of gel and nail art supplies so I thought why not show you guys my collection?

I got this 24 pack of UV glitters on eBay for around $5.

Pack of lint-free wipes (a essential for gel nails), Freeman peppermint and plum foot lotion, Gelish artificial nail remover, a small glass, and Gelish Structure Gel.

I displace all of my nail supplies in a birchbox. Great for organizing!

Fimo clay rods I got a pack of 100 on eBay for about $5.

Four nail art spheres with pearls, gems, and dessert fimo slices (also from eBay).

Nail dotting tools, nail file, nail buffer, small nail essential kit (Comes in a cute cupcake pouch!), and a four sided nail buffer.

Heart shaped nail file (Which I got from my Birchbox), 3D acrylic nail art letter mold, blade (to cut the fimo pieces), 7 piece nail art brush set, cuticle pusher, nail file, big nail clipper, cuticle remover cream, and nail tweezers.

I use the Sensationail starter kit by Nailene. I got this as a birthday gift and I love it! It comes with all the gel nail essentials you need to get started. The LED lamp and the bottles in the kit are a bit small but I was ok with that because you only use them once or twice a month.

Here is a closer look at the bottles you get in the Sensationail starter kit. You get a gel nail color (I got the pink chiffon kit), a clear gel coat that you use as both the base and top coat (You use this a lot so I would recommend getting a separate base and top coat), a gel primer, and a gel cleanser.

I'm still pretty new at gel manicures but once I get the hang of it I will make more gel nail rated posts. Do you guys like gel nails?

Guest Review: A Tale of Two Sisters: Gash & Peroxide

Two totally different colors, like two totally different sisters. One dark and classic, the other sparkly and bubbly. This describes me and Michelle fairly well. I'm her older sister, Stephanie. She was nice enough to let me do a little makeup review for A Colorful Creation. Today's my favorite makeup topic: LIPTSICK.

I'm the kind of girl who actually doesn't wear much makeup. I don't do mascara and eyeliner, my nails are rarely done, and a glimpse at my skin will tell you I'm in dire need of some good skin care habits. But I do indulge in lipsticks, their companions lipgloss and lip balm, and BB creams.

Urban Decay is one of my favorite companies. I love that they are animal-friendly and have kickass names for their colors like "F-Bomb" and "Apocalypse." They're having a super sale right now on some products they're discontinuing. Sad times. I was going to title this "A Fond Farewell: Urban Decay Lipsticks," but that would be too sad and negative and Michelle is NOT into negativity.

I bought two tubes at the crazy price of $8 bucks each, when they normally go for $22.

Can we talk about the packaging first? Just look at it! It's all pretty and purpley. There's a little dagger at the end of it because "Lipstick is a weapon of love." I guess they're implying love is a battlefield? Makeup is war paint? I could go on forever.

There really is nothing like red lips for confidence. You can't convince me that there is any better color for lips. There was a time when I couldn't go without a bit of rouge on my lips or my face would feel naked. Gash has to be the best red I've ever worn. It's dark and luscious. It has magenta undertones, so if you're not too into bright, cherry red you may like it. The satiny finish makes thin lips look fuller.

Such a deadly name for such a pretty pink. I wanted to wander a bit away from the red and try something safer and more day-time appropriate. This pale pink is fun to wear. The photo doesn't show it, but this shade has just a hint of shimmer and glitter without looking too wild. I tend to wear it without lipgloss just so the slight sparkliness will show. This is more up the marshmallow, bubblegum rainbow alley of A Colorful Creation, non?

So, Colorful Creators, do you have any Urban Decay favorites?
