I wanted to make some of my own ornaments for my mini Christmas tree so I came up with this adorable snowman ornament! To be honest it looks more like a duck then a snowman but who cares it's still cute! This is another crochet pattern but I promise my next DIY will be different! Enjoy!
You will need
- White, red, and orange, yarn (since this is a small ornament I used a thin yarn but if you want a bigger size use thicker yarn)
- Size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook
- Stuffing
- Black embroidery thread or yarn (for eyes and buttons)
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Body
- Ch 6, sl st to 1st ch to form a circle. Total = 6 sts
- Sc 2 sts in each st, repeat 6 times, sl st to 1st st. Total = 12 sts
- Sc 12 sts, 2 times. Total = 12 sts
- Dec 1, sc 1, repeat 4 times. Total = 8 sts
*Stuff with a little bit of stuffing*
- Dec 2, sc 1, dec 1, sc 1. Total = 5 sts
Cut off and sew closed
Head
- Ch 4, sl st to 1st ch to form a circle. Total = 4 sts
- Sc 2 sts in each st, repeat 4 times, sl st to 1st st. Total = 8 sts
- Sc 8 sts, repeat 2 times. Total = 8 sts
- Dec 2, sc 2, repeat 2 times. Total = 6 sts
*Stuff with a little bit of stuffing*
- Dec 3 sts. Total = 3 sts
Cut off and sew closed
Nose
- Ch 5, sl st to 1 st to form a circle.
- Make the circle straight and sew close with 3 sl sts.
Cut off
Scarf
- Ch 22 and pull yarn through on the last ch
Cut off
Sew the snowman's head on top of the body. Next, sew the nose on the lower center of the snowman's head. At this time you can sew on the eyes and buttons with black embroidery floss or yarn. Finish off by wrapping the scarf around the snowman's "neck" area and you're done!
Happy Holidays!
