After I posted my first BT21 plush I received a lot of positive feedback so I've decided to make the rest of the BT21 characters! I got a couple of requests to make certain characters so I will be crocheting them all! My plan is to post one BT21 pattern a month so please be patient with me as I slowly release each pattern. The first request I got was for Chimmy so I made him next.
Chimmy was created by Jimin from BTS. "Born with passion and tries hard at everything." Chimmy is a black and white dog who wears a yellow hoodie.
Chimmy's head was the trickiest part to make. Instead of crocheting one round piece I crocheted two pieces and sewed them together but you can't really tell. I wanted to make one piece for the head but it was difficult because I also had to include his face (the white part) because I didn't want to crochet a separate piece or use felt. Looking back I would've focused more on the shape of the head and trying to get that perfect "Chimmy shape" but overall I'm happy with the finished project.
Supplies:
- White worsted yarn
- Yellow worsted yarn
- Black worsted yarn
- G/4.25 mm crochet hook
- Polyfil stuffing
- Black felt
- Glue
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Aberrations:
Ch(s) - chain(es)
St(s) - stitch(es)
Cc - color change
Slst - slip stitch
Sc - single crochetCc - color change
Slst - slip stitch
Dec - decrease
Flo - front loop only
(x2) - repeat __ amount of times
Head (make 2)
With white yarn (Use yellow yarn for the second piece)
- Magic circle 6 sts. Total = 6 sts
- 2 sc in each st (x6). Total = 12 sts
- 2 sc in each st (x12). Total = 24 sts
- Sc 24 sts. Total = 24 sts
cc to yellow yarn
- 2 sc in next st, sc 1 st (x12). Total = 36 sts
- Sc 10 sts, 2 sc in next st (x4), sc 3 sts, dec 1, sc 3 sts, 2 sc in next st (x4), sc 10 sts. Total = 43 sts
- Sc 43 sts. Total = 43 sts
Cut off (only one first piece)
Face the two crochet pieces together, right sides facing each other. slst your current piece (the one that is still attached to your hook) to the first piece and sc around. Cut off 10 sts before you reach the beginning to turn the piece inside out. Stuff and shape head. Finish sewing the head closed with a yarn needle.
Ears (make 2)
- Magic circle 8 sts. Total = 8 sts
- Sc 8 sts (x8). Total = 8 sts
- Dec 1, sc 2 (x2). Total = 6 sts
Cut off, leave long tails for sewing
Legs (make 2)
- Magic circle 8 sts. Total = 8 sts
- Sc 8 sts (x4). Total = 8 sts
Cut off (only first leg)
Make the second leg but DO NOT cut off. Attach the second leg by ch 2, slst to a stitch on the first leg. Now you will be creating the body.
Body
- Sc 8 sts, sc 2 flo, sc 8 sts, sc 2 flo. Total = 20 sts
- Sc 20 sts (x8). Total = 20 sts
- Dec 1, sc 1 (x10). Total = 10 sts
*start stuffing*
- Dec 5 sts. Total = 5 sts
Cut off
Arms (make 2)
With white yarn,
- Magic circle 6 sts. Total = 6 sts
- Sc 6 sts (x2). Total = 6 sts
cc to yellow
- Sc 6 sts (x4). Total 6 sts
Cut off, leave long tail for sewing
With black felt cut out Chimmy's face. Two eyes, a nose, mouth, and tongue, look at a photo for reference. For the mouth, I cut out a 'P' shape with black felt and a 'U' shape with pink felt. Glue the black felt piece over the pink felt piece. I used a black marker to make the line on the tongue. Glue the face down on the center of the white circle and press down lightly to secure.
Assembly
Attach the arms to the side of the Chimmy's body. Sew the ears on top of his head and finally sew his head to his body. With a scrap of orange yarn ch 12 sts, tie ends to create a knot and weave this chain where the body meets the head, these are Chimmy's hoodie strings.
You are done! Now Van has a friend, Chimmy! Who should I make next?

DeleteThank you for the pattern. But i'm having a problem with the head. In row 4, how do i single crochet 2 times in one stitch ×12 and end up with 36 stiches?
ReplyDeleteIt's a typo but I fixed it. It should be, sc 2 sts in one st, sc 1 st (x12) and end up with 36 sts. Sorry for the confusion. Thank you ♥
DeleteHow tall is the final result?
ReplyDeleteMine came out to 6 1/2 inches. ♥
DeleteThe ears would only be 3 rounds as written? They look like they're at least 9 rounds?
ReplyDeleteIt is 9 rounds. 8 of the rounds you are sc 8 sts and the last round is the dec round. ♥
DeleteLove ❤❤❤
ReplyDeleteThank you ♥
DeleteHow to start with the chimmy body??....because it's mentioned Sc8, Sc FLO, ..do we start with the magic circle and Sc 20 and then continue as you have mentioned? ?
ReplyDeleteTo make Chimmy's body, you are going to have your hook still attached to one of his legs. Then, ch 2 and slst to the other leg and sc all around both legs to get a total of 20 sts. I hope that helps. ♥
DeleteThank you for the free patterns 💕💜
ReplyDeleteNo problem! ♥

ReplyDeleteYou're supposed to Dec 1 st, sc 1 st until you have 10 sts left and stuff lightly as you go. Hopefully, that makes sense. Let me know if you have any problems. ♥
