Health + Fitness Goals ♥ July 2018

July is the start of the second half of 2018. It's time to reevaluate your life and start living the life you want! Instead of dreading the fact that its summer and that I'm going to be 25 later this month I've decided to make life changes. One of those being my health.

If you've been reading my blog for the past few months then you know I've been struggling with my mental health. There are a bunch of things that have contributed to the depression but one of the top ones is my weight. I've always had issues with my weight (it runs in the family) and I don't think I ever feel 100% comfortable in my own skin but lately, it's gotten worse so I made myself a life of health and fitness habits that I would like to pick up. I probably won't do all these every day but my goal is to try to increase these habits into my life as much as possible

I don't have a "goal weight" because I don't weigh myself (I think it's toxic) instead I'm going to base my results on how I look and feel. Hopefully, I can feel comfortable in my skin and be able to wear cute outfits again. Feel free to join me if you like, we can encourage each other!

Wake up earlier
Workout first thing, eat breakfast, do my daily work, plan my blog, read, maybe sneak in a midday nap. There is so much you can do when you wake up first thing. On days when I go to work my days will be different but on my days off I really want to stick to an early lifestyle.

Morning meditation
I already started including meditation in my morning routine before work. Sometimes it helps but not always. Hopefully, by mediating more, it will help me feel better.

New workout plan
This month I'm starting a new workout plan. It's a 7-day workout by Lucy. I did three of her 7-day workout videos last week and already saw results! I felt amazing afterward and did see more definition in my body. I'm going to continue doing her workouts in July, all month. I know it may sound extreme to workout every day but I've done it before and the results will keep me motivated.

More fruits and vegetables
When I'm hungry for a snack my first reaction is to eat a protein bar but too many of those aren't good for you so I'm going to try to eat more fruits and veggies as snacks. I actually already started this goal by drinking fruit smoothies and smoothie bowls.

Meal plan as much as possible
Ideal, I would want to meal plan on Sunday and add them to containers but we don't have space in our refrigerator. Plus, I hate over leftovers over 3 days. What I'm going to do instead is keep big batches of food in containers and make meals with what I have.

Try going to the gym
I wrote try because knowing me I might not end up going. The reason I want to go to the gym is that I want to get back into running. I love fast-paced workouts that take up a lot of energy and I just don't get the same "rush" when I do indoor cardio workouts. My mother is also always asking if I want to go with her (she goes to the gym pretty much every other day). The only thing stopping myself from going is my social anxiety.

No late night eating
This can be somewhat difficult because of the times I eat. I eat when I'm hungry and sometimes that isn't till it's late night. I guess I need to start scheduling when I eat.

Avoid late night coffees
One of my bad habits is drinking coffee at night. I don't think coffee effects me but sometimes I end up staying up at night longer than usual. If that's the case though, why doesn't it keep me up in the morning? haha

Yoga 2-3 times a week
As much as I would like to do yoga every day, I know that I can't. So I'm aiming to include yoga into my routine 2-3 times a week.

Go to bed earlier
My sleeping schedule is so screwed up at the moment. My current time that I go to bed is 4 am, which isn't ideal. The other thing is that I also wake up at 7-8 am so I only get a few hours to sleep and end up waking up feeling so exhausted. Hopefully by incorporating all of the habits above it will help me sleep earlier.

Do you have any fitness or health goals?

  1. I'm wanting to improve my health as well! While I do have a goal weight, my main goal is to maintain a healthy lifestyle and let my body fall into an appearance that it naturally wants to doing this!

A lot of your list are ones that I want to start and maintain too! Especially the late night eating one because that's generally when I tend to eat the most food in a day!

  2. I think weighing yourself can be really toxic too, so we don't have scales in our house either. Late night snacking is one of my major downfalls, but I've been getting into yoga too and loving it!
