Mood/Dream Board ♥ Spring 2019

Spring 2019 Mood/Dream Board
I love sharing what's on my mood board because it's something that I stare at every day because I use my desk every day. I've posted several 'what's on my bulletin board' posts before (links at the bottom of this post) because I like to freshen up my board every season to inspire me. If you've read some of my previous posts than some of the same things may still be on my board and that's because I like to keep some of the same stuff until I get bored looking at it

Spring 2019 Mood/Dream Board
Here is a quick overview of everything on my bulletin board.

Spring 2019 Mood/Dream Board
Starting with the right corner, the Red Velvet print is from Vicki Sigh. You will notice that I have a lot of her artwork. She's my favorite illustrator!

Spring 2019 Mood/Dream Board
On the top center, I keep my Mooey granny square. When you pledge $10 or more on my Patreon you get this added with your first reward. On the sides, are a Chicago bear keychain and a Frozen Anna charm.

On the top left corner, are. few cute notes, a postcard of the N Sal tower and keychain from Korea that a friend got me, and, an adorable theme park print from OhSoFawn.

Spring 2019 Mood/Dream Board
On the lower right corner, I keep another postcard from Korea. a Captin American shield that I cut-out from this Advent Calendar (he's not my favorite Marvel character but I loved the colors on the shield), a castle pin from OhSoFawn and an exclusive print by Vicki from her Patreon.

Spring 2019 Mood/Dream Board
Strung at the bottom of my bulletin board is a striped banner that I crocheted (crochet pattern here). I love how much color colorful and cozy it makes my mood board look!

Striped Garland ♥ Crochet Pattern

Striped Garland Crochet Pattern
Today I have a really simple crochet pattern that is perfect for beginners. I felt like my desk needed something extra so I decided to make a striped garland. I left some of the triangles solid to balance the garland and I'm happy with how it came out. It really brightened up my desk area and puts a smile to my face whenever I look up at it.

This pattern requires decrease and color change so if you are new to crochet and haven't learned how to do this then now is the perfect time to learn! Just look up how to decrease and color change and tons of articles and videos will pop up, both are easy so beginners should be able to pick up quickly. If you have a difficult time with the color change you can always choose to keep your garland solid instead of striped.

I first uploaded this pattern to my Patreon. Join my Patreon to get first access to some of my crochet patterns. I will be posting some K-pop fan sticks crochet patterns next!

Striped Garland Crochet Pattern
Supplies
- H/5.00 mm crochet hook
- Various worsted weight yarn colors
- Twine or beige yarn (I used cotton yarn)
- Slanted tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Felt (optional)
- Fabric glue (optional)

Abrerations
ch(s) - chains
st(s) - stitch(es)
sc - single crochet
dec - decrease
cc - color change

Crochet Level
Beginner

If you have any problems with this pattern feel free to contact me so that I can make corrections to the pattern.

Striped Garland Crochet Pattern
Triangle
With H hook and 1st yarn
Row 1: Ch 11, sc 10 sts. Total = 10 sts
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc 10 sts. Total = 10 sts
Row 3: Ch 1, dec, sc 6 sts, dec. Total = 8 sts
cc to 2nd yarn
Row 4-5: Ch 1, turn, sc 8 sts. Total = 8 sts
Row 6: Ch 1, dec, sc 4 sts, dec. Total = 6 sts
cc to 1 st yarn
Row 7-8: Ch 1, turn, sc 6 sts. Total = 6 sts
Row 9: Ch 1, dec, sc 2 sts, dec. Total = 4 sts
cc to 2nd yarn
Row 10: Ch 1, turn, sc 4 sts. Total = 4 sts
Row 11: Ch 1, 2dec. Total = 2 sts
Row 12: Ch 1, dec. Total = 1 sts
Cut off and weave ends

Striped Garland Crochet Pattern
There are several color options you can choose from. I made three different as you can see above. To make the half-colored triangle, use one color for rows 1-7 and the second color for rows 8-12.

Striped Garland Crochet Pattern
Assembly
To create the garland, ch 10 sts, slst to 1st ch to form loop, ch 10 sts, slst to the upper left corner of one of the triangles. To attach the rest of the triangles, ch 5 sts and slst to corners. Lastly, ch 20 sts, slst to 10th st from hook to form right side loop. Weave in loose ends.

Tip
This step is optional. Cut out some triangle shaped pieces on the felt and glue on the back. This keeps the pieces from curling up and helps keep the weaved ends from unraveling.

30 K-Pop Questions ♥ TAG

30 K-Pop Questions
I was browsing through Twitter when I noticed a K-pop thread by @YEOSAMGS was going around. I read some of the questions and thought it would make the perfect K-pop TAG. To make this post shorter I decided to select a few questions and add a few of my own. Thank you @YEOSAMGS for starting this thread and providing these questions because of you I got inspiration for this blog post.

1. How did you get into K-pop?
Bubzbeauty did a hair tutorial of one of the Girls' Generation look and linked the music video. That day I went down a Girls' Generation rabbit hole.

2. What was your first K-pop song?
Girls' Generations Oh! or Gee, I don't remember which one I listened to first.

3. When did you discover K-pop?
2010-2011

4. Top 5 favorite male groups?
At the moment, BTS, GOT7, DAY6, MONSTA X, and NCT.

5. Top 5 favorite female groups?
At the moment,  Red Velvet, MAMAMOO, DREAMCATCHER, LOONA, and (G)I-DLE

6. Favorite solo artists?
IU, SUNMI, Roy Kim, Chung Ha, and BoA

7. Favorite rappers?
Epik High, ZICO, Zion T, Crush, Junoflo, and Dean

8. How has K-pop affected your life?
In so many ways! It makes me incredibly happy! I don't think a day goes on by where I'm not listening Kpop, watching variety shows, and/or Kdramas. Sometimes I wonder how different my life would be if I never discovered it.

9.  Favorite solo debut from a group?
Taemin (SHINee) and HYUNA (4Minute)

10. Favorite subunits?
Orange Caramel (After School), BASTARZ (Block B), SISTAR19 (SISTAR), JJ Project (GOT7), and JUS2 (GOT7)

11. Favorite rookie groups?
Stray Kidz, LOONA, and (G)I-DLE

12. Favorite debut songs?
Warrior (B.A.P), Face (NU'EST), Like OOH-AHH (TWICE), and Congratulations (DAY6)

13. Favorite album(s)?
At the moment it's Sleepless in ______ (Epik High) and We Are Here (MONSTA X)

14. Favorite Japanese version of a song?
Mr. Taxi (Girls' Generation). Before they made the Korean version I would listen to this song all the time! However, I do prefer Korean versions better.

15. Favorite Japanese single released?
Stop the Rain and If (DAY6)

16. Favorite English version of a song?
The Boys (Girls' Generations). I'm not a fan of English versions of songs.

17. Best K-pop actor/actress?
Eh, I can't think of one. I watch a lot of dramas because of idols that I recognize but I don't think idols are that great at acting, at least I never watched one with an outstanding performance.

18. Best group on variety shows?
I always loved how funny and natural BTS and GOT7 were on variety shows. I've watched a couple of other groups on variety shows and you can definitely tell when group members are close or not.

19. First variety/reality show you watched?
Running Man

20. First K-drama you watched?
Boys Over Flowers

21. Favorite OST songs?
The King and Alive (VIXX) from 'Moorim School' OST. The drama was horrible but the songs Vixx recorded for the drama were amazing! Also, the 'To the Beautiful You' OST is one of my absolute favorites.

22. What is your favorite music video?
I Wish (WJSN) The aesthetics in this music video is astounding!

23. What is your favorite choreography?
At the moment, I really love MONSTA X's Alligator choreography.

24. Favorite and least favorite concepts?
Least favorite: Any flower boy or innocent girl concepts. So cringy!
Favorite: Anything bold and powerful!

25. Favorite song at the moment?
Epik High - Lovedrunk (feat. Crush)

26. Who are some of your current bias?
Taemin (SHINee), Bang Yongguk (B.A.P), SUGA and V (BTS), Mark (GOT7), Wonho and IM (MONSTA X), and Taeyong (NCT).

27. Have you ever been to a concert?
No. It's my goal to go to my first K-pop concert this year.

28. Are you a part of any official fan clubs? Have you been to a fan meet?
Nope

29. Do you buy albums and merch?
I tried collecting albums when I first started listening but there were too many that I wanted so I just buy the songs online and look at the pictures online. I wish I could afford to buy tons of albums and official merch like hardcore fans but I would rather save my money to go to their concerts. If I ever go to a concert I will definitely buy any merch though!

30. Are you soft stan or a hard stan?
A very soft stan. I will listen to any group and give them a chance but it's very rare that I will stan a group so I choose wisely who I choose to stan. I like to think of myself as a fan of the genre K-pop rather than groups. There are a few groups that I follow but only when they're promoting.

30 K-Pop Questions
Feel free to answer these questions and post it on your blog. I would love to see your answers.

PURITO Skincare ♥ First Impressions

PURITO Skincare First Impressions
Not too long ago I was watching some Korean beauty Youtubers and one of them (I can't remember who I was watching) was recommending some skincare products that I never heard of before, PURITO. When I was reading reviews online I was surprised at how many positive reviews I found from products by PURITO. A lot of people mentioned that PURITO is very similar to COSRX, which I'm a huge fan of. Then I found that PURITO products were available to purchase through Amazon so I decided to try out their products because of the convenience.

Since I don't write reviews anymore I wanted to make a first impression post on these products because I know a have some K-beauty junkies out there who may not know of PURITO and wanted to share this brand with you all because I really am loving these products. Plus, they're cruelty-free!

Check out their official Instagram page to learn about their products and upcoming releases. I love how they use a dog to explain their products. For those who don't know, "Purito" means "dog" in Spanish.

*This is not a sponsored post and none of these products were gifted to me for free. I purchased all these products with my own money. All thoughts and opinions are my honest opinions. If anybody from Purito is reading this and would like to work with me feel free to contact me.

PURITO Skincare First Impressions
Defense Barrier pH Cleanser
They say the ideal pH level for skin is between 4.5 and 6 which is why PURITO pH 5.5 cleanser is the optimal level to protect the skin barrier. It helps calm, soothe skin, recover from damage and irritation. Read more here.

This product was the first one that I purchased. Before this cleanser, I was using a foam cleanser and literally, the day after I started using this cleanser my skin felt more hydrated and softer! Probably, because it doesn't strip your natural oils like foam cleansers do. This is a very gentle cleanser and very similar to the COSRX ph cleanser, which I used before and loved but eventually stopped because it broke me out.

Centella Green Level Buffet Serum
Claims to improve skin barrier, lighten, anti-wrinkle, help calm down inflamed skin, reduce pigmentation and moisturized. Read more about this product here.

I wanted a serum to help with anti-aging so it was either this serum or the Snail Repair Advanced 91 serum. In the end, I went with this one because it also claims to help with inflamed skin which I have. I used 2 pumps both in the morning and night. When I bought the cleanser I also bought this serum and used it the same night. With the combination of the two, I have noticed a change with my skin texture.

PURITO Skincare First Impressions
Centella Green Level All In One Mild Pad
These all-in-one pads are designed to remove dirt and residue while calming the skin and preventing breakouts. Read more here.

If you've been following for a while then you know I'm a huge fan of COSRX pimple pads, I used all 3 versions. When I saw that PURITO had their own pad, of course, I had to try them! Like the COSRX pads, there is a smooth and embossed side, for exfoliation and makeup removal. I've been using these in the morning and night as my "toner step" (I normally just use skincare pads at night but I don't have a toner at the moment).  They are the newest product I've added to my routine so I can't really say anything as far as results go but so far they are working really nicely with my skin. I love that it comes with a plastic clipper that makes picking up each pad hygienic.

PURITO Skincare First Impressions
Sea Buckthorn Vital 70 Cream
Sea Buckthorn contains 70% of Vitamin C. But this cream contains Vitamin A, B, C, D, E, P, and K. Read about all the benefits here. You can mix PURITO's Vitamin C serum together with the cream for maximum results.

It's very hydrated, light, non-sticky, absorbs quickly, and moisturizing. I'm only using this at night at the moment because I heard that you're not supposed to use vitamin c in the morning. I really love this cream and can see myself purchasing this in the future again. I would love the serum+cream technique and PURITO's other creams.

PURITO Skincare First Impressions
Final thoughts? My skin loves PURITO! I only have good things to say about their products. If you have sensitive skin I would recommend both the cleanser, Centella serum, and the pads because they are very gentle (the pads do have a scent to them but it goes away quickly). I will definitely be purchasing more of their products in the future.

Have you tried any Purito products?

Self-Care Sunday | Big Magic

Big Magic Phrases & Quotes
I finished reading Big Magic a few weeks ago and wanted to share what I learned from reading it with you all. As someone who is creative and constantly thinking of ways to create more Big Magic really resonated with me. To make this more self-care appropriate I wanted to share my favorite phrases and quotes from the book that I found inspiring. Hopefully, some of these will inspire you as well and become Big Magic.

Creativity is a path for the brave.
Creativity is a force of enchantment.
"Ideas are driven by a single impulse: to be made manifest."
"You do not need anybody's permission to live a creative life."
Most things have already been done but they have not yet been done by you.
If it's authentic enough it will feel original.
Creativity is a gift to the audience
It's okay if it's just a hobby that keeps you from going crazy.
"Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart."
Be satisfied with even the smallest progress.
Give your mind a job to do, or else it will find a job to do, and you might not like the job it invents.
"Pursue whatever fascinates you and brings you to life."
Done is better than good.
"Onward ever, backward never."
Does it love you?
Say yes to curiosity.
"Don't rush through the experiences and circumstances that have the must capacity to transform you."
Don't let go of your courage the moment things stop being easy or rewarding.
If you made something and it didn't work out let it go.
Try not to dwell too long on your failures.
Inspiration will always be drawn to motion.
You were born to create, regardless of the outcome.
"Art is a crushing chore and a wonderful privilege."
The treasures that are hidden inside you are hoping you will say yes.
"You are worthy, dear one, regardless of the outcome. You will keep making your work, regardless of the outcome. You will keep sharing your work, regardless of the outcome. You were born to create, regardless of the outcome. You will never lose trust in the creative process, even when you don't understand the outcome."

Have you read Big Magic?

Monthly Goals ♥ March 2019

Monthly Goals
I don't remember the last time I published a monthly goals post. You might be wondering why I stopped, right? Well, I stopped giving myself goals. I know, sounds horrible but realistically I'm not the type of person who gives myself a new goal every month. Sometimes I do, but not always. Since I've started using a Hobonichi I've dedicated one of the early pages to the goals for the said month. For March, I had 5 health and lifestyle goals that I would like to share with you all.

Go to the gym
Again? Yes, this gaol always makes it onto my goals list but I'm finally serious about! After seeing this photo of my body I've been inspired to start using the treadmill because that picture was taken when I was at my healthiest. I used to wake up early, eat fruits and vegetables regularly, and exercise for an hour in the morning. One of those exercises was running on the treadmill and I miss it. Back when I was running I would get that "runners high" that everyone talks about it and I loved it! Sadly, over treadmill broke and I failed to fix it so I stopped running. My mom goes to the gym a couple times a week and has asked me to join her and I think I may take her up on her offer. I'm scared to go because I have social anxiety but I've been taking more chances lately which is why I've made this my goal this month.

Mediate More
I mentioned in this post that I started taking up mediating. The thing I forgot to mention is that I don't do it as much as I would like to. This is why I decided to make it one of my goals this month. My plan is to start my day off with at least 5 minutes of meditation.

Size down at Starbucks
Last year, I started forming a horrible habit of getting a bigger size than my usual at Starbucks. I told myself that if it was my only Starbucks drink of the week that this was alright but later this became a horrible habit that I would love to break.

Catch up on sleep
I've mentioned that I've been dealing with insomnia for a couple of months now, one of the reasons was because I had a really bad mattress (I have no idea how old it but probably over 10 years!). However, I recently got a new mattress so hopefully, in March I can finally catch up on sleep. I would at least like to be in bed before 3am.

Look into going to therapy again
The key word is LOOK. I've been working really hard on bettering myself in every aspect except the most obvious, talking about my problems. I know I'm internal killing myself by holding in all the emotions that I haven't tackled in years. The counselor that I went to last year didn't work out so I'm going to try to find some else to talk to. Wish me luck!

What are your goals for March?

Advice I Would Give To My 20 Year Old Self

Advice I Would Give To My 20 Year Old Self
A couple of days ago Instagram reminded me of a photo that I took in 2013 of me standing in front of my mirror showing off my OOTD. This sparked many emotions but mainly that I wanted to hop into a time machine and have a one-to-one chat with my 20-year-old self, which is how old I was in those photos.

I've seen several posts like these in our blogs and have wanted to make my own but never thought I had enough "personal experience". But after looking back I realized that if I had to go back and write a letter to my past self I would probably be able to write a whole novel of helpful advice that I could give my younger self. But since I'm not much of a writer I decided to make a list of 25 things that I would tell my younger self.

1. You aren't as fat as you think.
2. Take care of your skin! It's amazing even though it can get excessively oily at times. One day you'll wish that your skin could still that much oil.
3. Be your own supporter.
4. That "stress" you always complain about is anxiety.
5. Don't stop running on the treadmill.
6. Don't lose motivation.
7. You aren't as ugly as you think.
8. Don't be so quiet. We both know how expressive you can be!
9. Keep studying Korean.
10. Blogging won't be a temporary thing.
11. Continue to sell your crochet plushies on Etsy while you're on a roll! One day you'll wish that you had even one sale or message to make a commission.
11. You will eventually get a dog. #spoileralert
12. Think before you spend.
13. Get your drivers license!
14. Find a better job!
15. Don't go to social gatherings where you aren't comfortable.
16. Don't stop reading!
17. Enjoy every vacation to the fullest.
18. Eat more vegetables!
19. Don't hold in your emotions. They will find a way out.
20. Remember that you loved K-pop before it was "trendy".
21. Be proud of your creations.
22. Take risks and chances! You will regret not taking them when you're older.
23. You are much stronger then you think.
24. Don't isolate yourself.
25. Take care of yourself. Love yourself. You are the only person who is going to be with you forever.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Hobbies That Have Helped My Depression

Hobbies That have helped My Depression
I've been working on taking care of my mental health since the beginning of the year, hence why I started Self-Care Sunday (check out the latest post here). To help relieve my depression I've tried many new and not-so-new hobbies, I tried so many things! Today, I'm going to share my favorite in case you or someone you know might be dealing with similar situations and be looking for a new hobby that is both healthy for your physical and mental being. The best part? It that most of these hobbies are pretty much free that you can start doing after you read this post!

Mediate
Studies have shown that by meditating for a few minutes a day it can reduce stress, control anxiety, enhance self-awareness, improve sleep, lengthen attention span, to name a few. The first couple of times I medicated my mind wandered off but with practice, you will eventually get the hang of it. Just remember to breath. There are tons of apps that you can download to help relax your mind, set a mantra, and peaceful sounds. Or you can just set your phone timer to 5 minutes and sit in a peaceful area of your home and mediate.

Yoga
Similar to mediation, by practicing yoga there are tons of amazing benefits. Not only are you focusing on breathing but also getting flexible and toned in the process. I like to replace 1-2 days of my workout with a 20-60 minute yoga session.

Read
Out of all the hobbies that I mention in this post, reading has by far helped me the most. I started reading last year but have actively read a few pages a night. My favorite genre is self-help because I love hearing about other people's experiences about their lowest points how they turned their life around, it gives me hope for my life. Let me know if you would like me to make a post on my favorite self-help books.

Write
Writing down your thoughts really helps get whatever is on your mind out of your head and on to paper. Get yourself a journal and start writing down something, anything! A list, poem, short story, song lyrics, a motivational quote, conversation you had, etc.

Hobbies That have helped My Depression
What hobbies do you do?
